Monday, May 25 – Week of 5/25-29

Happy Memorial Day Bengals!

We are into our eighth week!!  The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and closer to this strange school year.

Remember, in lieu of semester tests, many teachers are creating projects for you to demonstrate your understanding of the material.  That means time management is going to be VITAL.  You will not be able to complete all of the work the day before it’s due for all the classes.  That is not a goal to try and set for yourself.

Mr. Thennis has directed teachers to hold any close-out meetings during the normal scheduled semester final time.  I have emailed out meeting invites, so please accept those and join us!  We will have a little reflection then a special send-off into summer.  Here are the times per period to meet for my class (only pay attention to the period you are enrolled.  Your other teachers will have meetings during their times, if they are doing them):
– Period 1: 10:00 AM on 6/8 (Monday)
– Period 3: 9:15 AM on 6/9 (Tuesday)
– Period 4: 10:00 AM on 6/9 (Tuesday)
– Period 5: 12:00 PM (Noon) on 6/9 (Tuesday)
– Period 7: 10:00 AM on 6/10 (Wednesday)

MATERIAL DISTRIBUTION (Items left at the school in lockers, etc):

Wednesday May 27:  Seniors 9:00 to 12:00  /  Juniors 1:00-4:00
Thursday, May 28:  Sophomores 9:00 to 12:00  /  Freshmen 1:00 – 4:00
Friday, May 29:  Remaining pickup 9:00 to 12:00

  • Your bag will be put on a dash with your First and last name.
  • The bag will be placed in an open trunk or placed on the curb next to the vehicle.
  • NO ENTRY INTO THE BUILDING WILL BE ALLOWED.
  • NO TEXTBOOKS, CLASSROOM MATERIALS, OR CHROMEBOOKS will be returned at this time.

And remember – if you turn in work after 4:00 on Friday for any of the assignments OR you turn in any makeup work, please send me a courtesy email or text via Remind so I can ensure I update your grade as quickly as possible.  If you complete the work but don’t notify me, there is no guarantee of when I will get back to check old assignments since we are working in various platforms.

Good Morning Bengals!

We are into our seventh week!!  The semester is wrapping up quickly.  As we get closer to the end of the year, you will probably start to see projects being assigned in lieu of traditional tests.  That means time management is going to be VITAL.  You will not be able to complete all of the work the day before it’s due for all the classes.  That is not a goal to try and set for yourself.

Throughout this whole shut-down, we have stressed the importance of time management and balance and resilience.  It will be important to focus and work on those skills over the next 3 weeks as we wind down.

No schedule for semester testing has been sent so keep an eye out for that.  All grading information has been dispersed.  We will also have updates on returning and picking up materials from the school.  Keep an eye on the email!

A couple reminders:

  1. Check in with all classes on Monday and layout your assignments for the week.  Try to schedule your work so you aren’t spending all day, every day working.
  2. **Check PowerSchool to see your missing work and fill those assignments into your weekly schedule.
  3. Keep your daily schedule with sufficient times for work time and sufficient times for “distraction” or free time.

Finally – an important note – if you turn in work after 4:00 on Friday for any of the assignments OR you turn in any makeup work, please send me a courtesy email or text via Remind so I can ensure I update your grade as quickly as possible.  If you complete the work but don’t notify me, there is no guarantee of when I will get back to check old assignments since we are working in various platforms.

Good Morning Bengals!

We are into our sixth week!!  The weather is getting nicer, and it might be harder to stay focused.  I feel the same way! HOWEVER, we need to make sure we balance it.  Build in time to be outside enjoying the weather, but also allow for time to finish your work.

Among many thoughts, you may find these (from your fellow students) familiar:

but maybe even…

Something to take comfort in with these quotes is that you are not alone! You will have this historic shared experience with your classmates for the rest of your life.  To make sure you end up where you want to be, buckle down and get your work done as we wind down the year!

A couple reminders:

Monday, May 4 – Week of 5/4-8

Good Morning Bengals!

We are into our fifth week (midterms)!!  As a staff, we recognize the stressors in our students’ lives, and we wanted to take this week to “pump the brakes” a little.  In that vein, I’ve taken a step back on required work.  There is still work listed that you can do to enhance or help your learning, but most of it is optional.

A couple reminders:

  1. Check in with all classes on Monday and layout your assignments for the week.  Try to schedule your work so you aren’t spending all day, every day working.
  2. **This week – check PowerSchool to see your missing work and fill those assignments into your weekly schedule.
